The Caring Kitchen
In Matthew 25:45 Jesus as says “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
In 1989, Burlington Assembly of God began making plans for what would become The Caring Kitchen. We felt the need to provide a hot lunch on the weekends to the homeless, the low-income, and the shut-ins of the Burlington area.
The kitchen opened for the first time in January 1990 and the first meals were served.
Many have been blessed through this ministry whether it is through serving others or benefitting from a warm meal. The ministry is run by volunteers
Pre-Covid the Caring Kitchen was serving hot meals on Saturday and Sunday.
Post Covid, the Caring Kitchen has been serving bag lunches to about 90 people on average on Saturdays and box groceries to over 100 people on average on Sundays. Clothing and other donations to the Caring Kitchen are given out during the time that the food is given out on Saturday and Sunday.
Food distribution begins at 8a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and last until the bags of food and boxes of groceries have been all distributed.
Each week we remind those we serve that God cares for and loves each of them. We are here to listen and to share Jesus with everyone.
How Can I Help?
